Addressing Your Questions

I wanted to write a quick post because I’ve been getting some questions since the site relaunch and I want to address them. I am happy to be hearing from clients and I welcome your comments, suggestions, and overall input. Keep’em coming!

1. Can I upgrade to the new packages?

Absolutely! We value all of our clients and they are all eligible for all packages we offer. If you would like to upgrade, please enter a ticket at the helpdesk and we will be more than happy to set you up.

2. Why didn’t you automatically upgrade us?

Well, quite simply it’s because we’ve made that ¬†mistake before. We’ve changed our packages and updated client’s accounts because the resource difference was about double, but the price difference was only $.05 and there were complaints. Now we know better than to change your package without your request.

3. Will you match a competitor’s price?

That’s a good question, and the answer is: We will try. Since our servers don’t match the competitor’s servers (we tend to use higher performance hardware that costs more), we simply can’t offer unlimited resources. But we will do our best to get you into a package that fits your needs and your budget.

4. How do I get to the billing site?

The portal hasn’t moved, but the link to it on the main site has. We’re currently working on a good place to add it to the layout where you can see it on every page of our site, but in the meantime it’s under Helpdesk Ticket System on the Contact/Support page. Please save yourself time and bookmark it in your browser.

Ultimate Blog Party

I’m excited to be participating in the Ultimate Blog Party this year. This year is the first time we’ve participated and we’ve donated a couple of prizes to the party. Since you’re here, let me tell you a little bit about E-Starr.

The company was born in April of 2002 when I purchased my first server. I was the designer of a small, but well known site that was getting way too much traffic for its own good. My current host at the time was providing me with 300mb space for $18.95/mo and that just wasn’t enough. I definitely was not the only one feeling that way at the time and many people were looking for more affordable solutions.

A friend told me about a great price on a server from GNAX and I jumped on it. Everything just exploded from there! My friends, also fed up with paying way too much, moved over to the server with me and before I knew it, it was paying for itself. The word spread and friends of friends started signing up. Over the next few years we grew to 2 servers, 5 servers, 10 servers..

The best part about owning my own online business is that while my kids were growing up (they were just babies when this all started) I was able to be around for them and not working all the time. Right now those boys are 12 & 13 and are in training to be your next support team. The success of my business in the “.com boom” also allowed my husband to take time off of work and get the training that makes him exceptional at what he does.

At a time when companies are offering “unlimited space and bandwidth” (you guys aren’t falling for that, right) for $3.95/mo and creating terrible reputations for being flaky, we have stayed strong with our mission to provide affordable, reliable hosting that fits your budget. The best part about a mom&pop business like our is that we still know names and still know our clients are people, too. We work with our clients to build a solution that is right for them and support them in whatever ways we can.
